Coachella Countdown

Coachella Countdown: 38 Days

Artist of the day: Sleigh Bells

Warning: This band is not for all ears.

They have a very unique sound,…categorized as “Noise Pop.” Anything with the descriptive word noise makes me hesitant on listening but with all of the reading I had done on this band a while back, I had to give them a shot.

I can’t handle this entire album all in one sitting but I do like throwing on a song here and there.

Mostly I am just fascinated with the singer Alexis Krauss.  She is pretty rad and I feel like we could be good friends or maybe it is just the bangs…

Artist of the day: Ellie Goulding – MUST LISTEN

I can’t even begin to describe how talented and magical this artist is.

I had a hard time deciding which video clip to post. She has so many great songs.

But we all know how much I love talented artists covering hit singles, so here is Only Girl from Rihanna.  Her US album release, Bright Lights, comes out on March 8th.  I highly recommend listening and purchasing this album

Make sure to also listen to:

Human

Your Song ( Cover / Elton John )

Arcade Fire

A close friend of mine sent this to me knowing how much I love Arcade Fire and he is friends with the singer and guitarist.  This was too good to not post here.

Covering a song is always a risk.  You don’t want to just replicate what the original artist did, you need to make it your own and add something new, especially if you want to get noticed.

Brianna Conroy does just that with this Arcade Fire cover of Sprawl II (Mountains beyond Mountains)

She has an incredible talent. Her voice is beautiful and she has added a magical twist on this song by slowing it down and making it acoustic.

With already 4k+ views, I can only hope to help continue to spread this video and help her get even more noticed.

Listen to her cover/mashup of Black Keys Tighten Up / Mad World.

I would love to see her cover an Ellie Goulding or a Lyyke Li song.

Manchester Orchestra

New single by Manchester Orchestra called Simple Math.

I love that they posted this graphics video involving the lyrics.

This song has been on repeat for a week straight.  This song is beautiful and speaks so true to events currently happening in my life.

I can’t wait to see them live at The Musicbox in June.

Their latest album will be released this month, in the mean time take a listen to:

“I can feel a hot one”

“Shake it off”

Here is a link to an acoustic version of the song: Simple Math – Acoustic

Matt Nathanson – Faster

Matt Nathanson – Faster

Finally a new song by the oh so handsome and talented Matt Nathanson.

(if you go to his page, you can download the single for FREE!)

I had the pleasure of seeing Matt at the Troubadour a few years ago with one of my best friends and we have been waiting for him to come back to the west coast ever since.

Rumor has it the album is finished so hopefully a tour is around the corner.

Edward Sharpe or Alexander

So in love with Alexander, which is the solo project for Alex Ebert, lead singer of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

This is an acoustic version of one of my favorites songs off of the record, but be sure to listen to the album version to fully get the life this song bears.

If you love Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, you won’t be disappointed with this album

And just like Edward Sharpe, Alex makes me want to take of my shoes and run around barefoot in a field while spinning in circles in a floral print sundress.

Listen to “Lets Win” and “A Million Years”

Artist of the day: Best Coast

Last Thursday I saw Best Coast and Wavves at my favorite venue – The Music Box in LA.

Wavves… I am still not a fan of… I just can’t get into the whining.

Best Coast. Adore her. She was great live.  Good energy.  Love her whole 60’s vibe she has going on.

Only problem is her songs are short and all start to sound the same.

That sadly was the first show of the year for me.

Gotta Dance Dirty

Remember the song Better off Alone?  I can still remember playing that song on repeat in highschool along with Sandstorm and The Launch.

I go through phases with Electronic music where one month it becomes a huge focus of mine and then I forget about it and go straight back to my comfort zone of indie/folk/rock and a pop-punk.

I am currently getting back interested into discovering electronic/house and now dub-step music and I think this phase is no longer a phase.  This will now fall into the above listed comfort zone catagories.

* Reggae will still not ever be something I will post about.

I have always loved Tiesto, always.  Then Deadmau5 came along and I opened my heart up for him as well & of course there has always been room for Kaskade,

Then these bands like Crystal Castles, Sleigh Bells, (who by the way have a website that might be more obnoxious then any other website you have been too) & The XX came around and opened my eyes to a whole other side of electronic music that I wasn’t sure would ever exist.   I can’t get enough of these bands.

I recently stumbled upon Gotta Dance Dirty, which is an Electronic focused music blog.  This is site is great and has provided me with a great deal of new music.  I highly recommend stepping out of your comfort zone and joining me on this new journey.

You will definitely be seeing more postings about my new interest.

Coachella Countdown: 49 days left

Artist of the day : Crystal Castles

This song came out a few months ago and I am still just as obsessed with it.

Crystal Castle’s is definitely not a band for all ears, but this is a CC & Robert Smith of the Cure mix… so hopefully those that are less tolerable will possibly enjoy this song.

Alice Glass just simply fascinates me and I can not wait to finally see this duo live!

Adele

Adele. She sings from the soul. When she sings I get chills.

Her new album, beginning to end is perfect.  It was like she wrote the album for me and my life.  I need to write her a Thank you note for putting my emotions into the perfect songs.  This song in particular, is my favorite off the album and I am sure this can relate to so many people’s lives.

She is beautiful and full of talent.  Anyone who has a chance to see her live at the Palladium on June 9th is extremely lucky.
